These qualifications are designed to broaden your expertise of applied management to ensure your knowledge and skills are current. The applied management qualification combines a masters, postgraduate diploma and a postgraduate certificate into a flexible, multi-layered programme designed to extend, deepen and consolidate your future at the forefront of business and management.

You’ll gain specialised business knowledge and skills and the ability to apply business knowledge by building on existing qualifications and experience, resulting in a comprehensive understanding, professional competence and leadership skills in modern business and management.

Academic Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

MApM (240 credits)

  • A NZQF-listed undergraduate degree (or equivalent) with a minimum of a pass (as per the EIT 11 point grading system specified in the ARF); or
  • At the discretion of EIT, where an applicant’s situation is compelling but not covered by the requirements listed above.

MApM (180 credits)

  • A NZQF-listed undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in the Business or Management field with a minimum of the equivalent to a B average (as per the EIT 11 point grading system specified in the ARF); or
  • A Bachelor Honours or Postgraduate degree in the Business or Management field with 120 credits at Level 8; or
  • A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a related field with a minimum of the equivalent to a B average (as per the EIT 11 point grading system specified in the ARF) and evidence of management experience at degree level, subject to assessment by the Programme Coordinator; or
  • At the discretion of EIT, where an applicant’s situation is compelling but not covered by the requirements listed above.

NOTE: A Master of Applied Management applicant who does not meet the entry criteria above may be admitted to the Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Management and, upon successful completion of four courses (with a minimum B average) from the Schedule to the Regulations, be admitted to the Master of Applied Management.

PGDipApM (120 credits) and PGCertApM (60 credits)

  • A NZQF-listed undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Business or Management; or
  • An undergraduate degree in a related field with a minimum of the equivalent to a B average (as per the EIT 11 point grading system specified in the ARF), subject to assessment by the Programme Coordinator; or
  • At the discretion of EIT, where an applicant’s situation is compelling but not covered by the requirements listed above.

English Language Entry Requirements

All applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language fluency prior to acceptance in their programme. For international students, ways in which English language fluency may be demonstrated include the following:

  • Successful study of a programme in which English was the language of instruction (conditions apply).
  • Completion of a New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 5 with any endorsement).
  • IELTS Academic score of 6.5, with no band score lower than 6, achieved in a single test within the two years preceding enrolment.
  • Completion of accepted international English language proficiency tests (refer to NZQA English language entry requirements for international students) with scores equivalent to the IELTS scores above.

Academic Entry Requirements

Master of Applied Management (180 Credits)

  • An undergraduate degree in business or management with a minimum of a B average.

Where the candidate’s undergraduate degree does not provide the basis of study at the level required for more advanced study, they will be required to enrol in the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management before continuing to master degree level (180 credits). Alternatively, candidates can apply for the two year Masters (240 credit) if they meet the entry criteria for this programme.

Master of Applied Management (240 Credits)

  • An undergraduate degree or graduate diploma.
  • Other graduate qualifications and industry experience may be considered. Please contact the International Centre for further information: international@eit.ac.nz

Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management

  • An undergraduate degree in business or management.

Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Management

  • An undergraduate degree in business or management.

English Language Entry Requirements

All applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English Language fluency prior to acceptance in the programme. English Language fluency can be verified by achievement of one of the following within the last two years:

  • New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 5 (Academic)
  • IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with no band score lower than 6.0
  • PTE (Academic) score of 58 with no band score lower than 50
  • International equivalents to IELTS accepted by NZQA or successful study of a programme in which English was the language of instruction (conditions apply)
